Born in Pittsburgh, Patrick McGinty is the author of the novels Test Drive and Town College City Road. He teaches at Slippery Rock University in the Department of Languages, LIteratures, Cultures, and Writing, and in 2023, he was selected by the National Endowment for the Humanities to participate in the Rust Belt Humanities Lab. He proudly serves as the local political chair and on the statewide executive council for his beloved union, the mighty Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties (APSCUF).

He lives in the Morningside neighborhood of Pittsburgh with Candace Jane Opper and their son, Augie.
